  • Dosing

    • Rimadyl chewable tablets are to be given orally
    • The recommended dosage is 2 mg per pound daily, given in 1 dose or divided between 2 doses daily
    • It may be given with or without food
    • Give this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions, ask the veterinarian or pharmacist to explain them to you

  • Administration

    • One of the options for the drug is a caplet form
    • This caplet can be given to your dog by placing it on the back of the dog's tongue or wrapping it up in a piece soft food or a pilling treat
    • If your dog can't take a pill, there is a chewable version
    • This chewable version comes in a soft square shape that your dog can simply chew like any other treat

  • Side Effects

    • Any time you give your pet medication, there is a chance of side effects
    • Some of the possible adverse reactions to this drug include jaundice, vomiting, bloody or black stool, unusual behavior, loss of appetite, and diarrhea
    • If you notice anything different, call your veterinarian to ask if your dog needs to be seen
