K9 Advantix II is an effective way to get rid of the pests that plague your dog and keep them as far from your pet as possible; however, it can only do this if used correctly. It's important to make sure that K9 Advantix II is applied correctly to fight fleas and ticks and reduce the probability and severity of any side effects. That's why we here at EntirelyPets/HealthyPets want to make sure you know how to apply K9 Advantix II correctly. Follow these instructions and your dog should be free of fleas and ticks for years to come.
First and foremost, it's important to make sure that you have the right formula of K9 Advantix for your dog. If your dog is under seven weeks of age, he should refrain from using it until they reach seven weeks. Check your dog's weight and consult with your veterinarian to ensure that any medications your dog is currently taking are compatible with K9 Advantix II. There are four formulas of K9 Advantix for dogs and puppies that are 10 pounds or less, dogs and puppies that are between 11 and 20 pounds, dogs and puppies that are between 21 and 55 pounds, and dogs that are over 55 pounds.
Make sure not to apply K9 Advantix to cats, as it contains a compound that is harmful to them. Additionally, this compound should not be consumed, so be sure to prevent your pet from ingesting K9 Advantix II. K9 Advantix is a topical solution and should be applied directly to your pet's skin on the back of his or her neck. The solution will spread throughout his or her system within the first day of application and will kill most fleas and ticks within the first 12 hours.
1. Holding the applicator upright, remove the cap from the tube.
2. Flip the cap over and put it back on the tube.
3. Twist the cap to break the seal then remove it from the tube.
4. Follow directions below based on your dog's weight:
While the dog is standing, separate a patch of hair on the back of the dog's neck between his or her shoulder blades. Once a patch of healthy skin is visible, place the tube's tip directly on your dog's skin and squeeze the entirety of the tube's contents directly onto the skin. Do NOT massage it into the skin and do NOT apply to wet skin. Make sure to keep K9 Advantix away from your dog's eyes and mouth.
5. Once tube is empty, properly dispose of the empty tube.
K9 Advantix II should be applied monthly and preferably on the same day each month to ensure that fleas and ticks stay repelled from your dog. If you miss a monthly dose then it should be applied as soon as possible to ensure flea and tick infestation is prevented. If multiple doses are missed, do NOT apply more than one dose at a time. Instead, resume a monthly schedule and inform your veterinarian.
