Emergencies can happen at any place or time. Being prepared is the best thing that you can do for your pet. A first-aid kit will help to reduce anxiety if an emergency does occur. Keep the kit at the ready and continue to update all of the items in the kit, making sure nothing has expired. First aid kits should be kept in properly labeled containers. A small plastic toolbox, tackle box, cosmetic box or sewing box will be sufficient to hold all of the necessary equipment. Purchasing your supplies first will give you a better idea as to what size box you will need.

Discuss It
While you're away, be sure to discuss your pets with your pet-sitters. Make sure they understand what you consider an emergency, how to contact you, the name and phone number of a secondary contact person you trust to make such decisions for you if you cannot be reached, and where to take your pet in case of an emergency.
Make It
It is also a good idea to have separate information sheets for each pet. Include a photo of each pet with the name, age, breed, sex, identification, and any health problems. This can help if your pet is lost or if someone unfamiliar with your pet is needed to care for it. Here are some basic items that all first aid kits should contain.
